Ban on iftar party for government employees in Indonesia

2 days before the start of Ramadan, last Tuesday evening, President Widodo issued a notification banning government employees from organizing iftar parties.  He termed it as an urgent initiative and said that the country is still going through the transition from the situation of coronavirus.

President Joko Widodo of Indonesia, the world's most Muslim-populated country, has come under criticism in the country for imposing a ban on public servants' iftar parties during the month of Ramadan.

According to the Jakarta Post report of Indonesia's press yesterday Saturday, government officials are trying to normalize the situation by standing in favor of this controversial decision.
